OBJECTIVES To evaluate the outcome after Hartmann's procedure (HP) versus primary anastomosis (PA) with diverting ileostomy for perforated left-sided diverticulitis. BACKGROUND The surgical management of left-sided colonic perforation with purulent or fecal peritonitis remains controversial.
