An IgA monoclonal antibody (MUM/F1-1/copenhageni) was produced from a mouse immunised with Leptospira interrogans serovar copenhageni. The antibody showed partial serogroup specificity by agglutination and by reaction in enzyme immunoassay, and opsonised homologous leptospires for phagocytosis by cultured mouse macrophages. Immunodiffusion and Western-blotting experiments indicated that MUM/F1-1/copenhageni reacted with a carbohydrate determinant in the leptospiral lipopolysaccharide. Daily…
Reaction of monoclonal antibodies specific determinants in Leptospira envelope with species interrogans outer
TLDR
A set of 24 monoclonal antibodies was produced against an outer envelope preparation from Leptospira interrogans serovar copenhageni and could not opsonise homologous leptospires for phagocytosis by mouse macrophages or protect new-born guinea-pigs against lethal infection.
An immunoprotective monoclonal antibody directed against Leptospira interrogans serovar copenhageni.
TLDR
A monoclonal antibody was prepared by hybridoma technology in BALB/c mice immunized to Leptospira interrogans serovars copenhageni and icterohaemorrhagiae and protected hamsters, dogs and monkeys against challenge with a virulent strain of serovarCopenhageni.
Production and characterization of monoclonal antibodies to the EDTA extract of Leptospira interrogans, serovar icterohaemorrhagiae.
TLDR
Immunocytochemistry showed that an EDTA extract determinant recognized by monoclonal antibody 47B4D6, is localized under the outer envelope of serovar icterohaemorrhagiae, and was not digested by pronase, suggesting that the determinant is of carbohydrate nature.
Antigens recognized by the human immune response to severe leptospirosis in Barbados.
TLDR
Serum samples obtained from patients hospitalized in Barbados with severe leptospirosis were tested by the microscopic agglutination test (MAT), enzyme immunoassay (EIA) and immunoblotting withLeptospires that had been isolated from these patients, revealing reactions with a number of bands that corresponded with outer envelope components.
Anti-Leptospira immunoglobulin profiling in mice reveals strain specific IgG and persistent IgM responses associated with virulence and renal colonization
TLDR
A sustained IgM response potentially associated with chronic leptospiral renal infection is observed in mice infected with L. interrogans infection, depending on the serovar and virulence of strains.
Anti-Leptospira immunoglobulin profiling in mice reveals strain specific IgG and persistent IgM responses associated with virulence and renal colonization
TLDR
A sustained IgM response potentially associated with chronic leptospiral renal infection is observed in mice infected with L. interrogans, and it is demonstrated that mice pre-infected with the attenuated M895 Manilae LPS mutant or heat-killed bacterin were completely protected against renal colonization.

TLDR
The rabbit antibody response to leptospiral F4 antigen extracted from serovar pomona depended on the method of immunisation, which stimulated agglutinins in both the IgM and IgG classes.

The antibodies involved in the human immune response to leptospiral infection.
TLDR
The hamster-protective capacity of human sera correlated well with agglutinin titres, and both types of immunoglobulin from patients with serovar pomona infection protected hamsters against lethal infections with homologous leptospires.
Monoclonal antibodies to Salmonella lipopolysaccharide: anti-O-polysaccharide antibodies protect C3H mice against challenge with virulent Salmonella typhimurium.
TLDR
Evidence is provided that monoclonal antibodies with specificity to the O-polysaccharide region of Salmonella LPS can protect C3H mice against challenge with the homologous bacterial strain.
Monoclonal antibodies to Bacteroides fragilis lipopolysaccharide
TLDR
Results confirm earlier findings that the B. fragilis LPS contains an immunodominant antigenic determinant common to almost all B.Fragilis isolates.
Host immunological mechanisms in the resistance of mice to leptospiral infections
TLDR
The evidence suggests that mechanisms of resistance to primary infection and immunity to reinfection are exclusively humorally mediated in mice and that host and microbial factors in the outcome of infection are discussed.
Isolation and Characterization of a Leptospiral Type-Specific Antigen
TLDR
The type-specific main (TM) antigen was extracted from the leptospiral cells of strain Kyoto of the Hebdomadis group by 90% phenol and was purified mainly by ethanol precipitation and generally resembled that of gram-negative bacterial endotoxin, and this fact suggests that the antigen is composed mainly of lipopolysaccharides.
The Role of Macrophages in the Protection of Mice Against Leptospirosis: In Vitro and In Vivo Studies
TLDR
Balblc mice are naturally resistant to infection with Leptospira interrogans serovar copenhageni, but leptospires were not phagocytosed by mouse peritoneal macrophages in vitro without added specific antibody, indicating specific antibody was essential for protection from infection.
