An inexpensive model system for the study of granulocyte concentrate preservation has been evaluated. Concentrates were collected from the same donors within one hour by manual and automated pheresis techniques. In both types of concentrates, phagocytosis, respiratory burst, microbial killing and cell migration were normal within four hours of collection.
