Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is an anxiety disorder characterized by persistent intrusive thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive actions (compulsions). Dysfunction of cortico-striatothalamo-cortical circuitry is implicated in OCD, though the underlying pathogenic mechanisms are largely unknown.
