Literature search was performed for bariatric surgery from inception to September 2013, in which the effects of laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (LRYGB) and laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) on body mass index (BMI), percentage of excess weight loss (EWL%), and diabetes mellitus (DM) were compared 2 years post-surgery.
