Dark Matter (DM) is one of the most critical questions to be understood and answered in fundamental physics today. Observations with varied astronomical and cosmological technologies already pinned down that DM exists in the Universe, the Milky Way, and the Solar System. However, understanding DM under the language of elementary physics is still in progress. DM direct detection aims to test the interactive cross-section between galactic DM particles and an underground detector’s nucleons…

Snowmass Neutrino Frontier: NF04 Topical Group Report

This report covers a broad range of neutrino sources, from low-energy neutrinos from the early universe to ultra high-energy sources. We divide this report by source, and discuss the motivations for

ALETHEIA: Hunting for Low-mass Dark Matter with Liquid Helium TPCs

Time dependence of liquid-helium fluorescence

The time dependence of extreme ultraviolet (EUV) fluorescence following an ionizing radiation event in liquid helium is observed and studied in the temperature range from 250 mK to 1.8 K. The

Mass and shape of the Milky Way’s dark matter halo with globular clusters from Gaia and Hubble

Aims. We estimate the mass of the inner (< 20 kpc) Milky Way and the axis ratio of its inner dark matter halo using globular clusters as tracers. At the same time, we constrain the distribution in

A lower bound on the mass of cold thermal dark matter from Planck

We show that the new measurement of the effective number of neutrinos (Neff) by the Planck satellite can be used to set a robust lower bound on the mass of cold thermal dark matter of (MeV). Our

Preliminary studies on TPB coating on the inner walls of a ten cm-scale cylindrical PTFE detector

The ALETHEIA (A Liquid hElium Time projection cHambEr In dArk matter) project is an originally creative dark matter experiment aiming to hunt for low-mass (100 MeV/c^2~10 GeV/C ^2) WIMPs. While there

First Dark Matter Search Results from the LUX-ZEPLIN (LZ) Experiment

TLDR
Results from LZ’s first search for Weakly Interacting Massive Particles with an exposure of 60 live days are reported, setting new limits on spin-independent WIMp-nucleon cross-sections for WIMP masses above 9 GeV / c 2.

New Definition of the Neutrino Floor for Direct Dark Matter Searches

The neutrino floor is a theoretical lower limit on WIMP-like dark matter models that are discoverable in direct detection experiments. It is commonly interpreted as the point at which dark matter

Scintillation yield from electronic and nuclear recoils in superfluid $^4$He

Superfluid 4 He is a promising target material for direct detection of light ( < 1 GeV) dark matter. Possible signal channels available for readout in this medium include prompt photons, triplet
