Despite its deceptive simplicity, few concepts have more fundamental implications than chirality, from the therapeutic activity of drugs to the fundamental forces of nature. In magnetic materials, chirality gives rise to unconventional phenomena such as the anomalous Hall effect and multiferroicity, taking an enhanced flavour in the so-called spin-liquid phases where magnetic disorder prevails. Kagome systems sit at the crossroad of these ideas. Motivated by the recent synthesis of rare-earth… Expand
Chiral Spin Liquid on a Kagome Antiferromagnet Induced by the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya Interaction.

Macroscopically Degenerate Exactly Solvable Point in the Spin-1/2 Kagome Quantum Antiferromagnet.
TLDR
This work reports the discovery of a special quantum macroscopically degenerate point in the XXZ model on the spin-1/2 kagome quantum antiferromagnet for the ratio of Ising toantiferromagnetic transverse coupling J_{z}/J=-1/3 and identifies five phases near this point including both spin-liquid and broken-symmetry phases. Kagome antiferromagnet: a chiral topological spin liquid?
TLDR
At low temperatures, it is found that quantum fluctuations favor this chiral phase, which is stable against small perturbations of second- and third-neighbor interactions, and thermal fluctuations compete with quantum ones and induce a transition from this flux phase to a planar zero flux phase at a nonzero value of the renormalized temperature. Expand
Distinct spin liquids and their transitions in spin-1/2 XXZ kagome antiferromagnets.
TLDR
It is found that the emergence of the spin-liquid phase is independent of the anisotropy of the XXZ interaction, and both a time-reversal-invariant spin liquid and a chiral spin liquid with spontaneous time- reversal symmetry breaking are obtained. Expand
Properties of an algebraic spin liquid on the kagome lattice
In recent work, we argued that a particular algebraic spin liquid (ASL) may be the ground state of the S = 1/2 kagome lattice Heisenberg antiferromagnet. This state, which lacks a spin gap, isExpand
