We have been investigating the impact that the long terminal repeats (LTRs) of the RTVL-H family of human endogenous retroviral-like elements may have on the expression of adjacent cellular genes. Using a differential hybridization strategy, we have screened a cDNA library from a normal full-term human placenta and have identified two clones containing non-RTVL-H-related cellular sequences that have been polyadenylated within an RTVL-H LTR.
