We summarize the dual gravity description for a thermal gauge theory, reviewing the key features of our holographic model of large N QCD (Mia et al 2010 Nucl. Phys. B 839 187, Mia et al 2010 Phys. Rev. D 82 026004) and elaborating on some new results. The theory has matter in the fundamental representation and the gauge coupling runs logarithmically with energy scale at low energies. At the highest energies, the theory becomes approximately scale invariant, much like what we would expect for…

Nonextremality, chemical potential, and the infrared limit of large N thermal QCD
Nonextremal solution with warped resolved-deformed conifold background is important to study the infrared limit of large N thermal QCD. Earlier works in this direction have not taken into account all
Non-extremal geometries and holographic phase transitions
A bstractUsing the low energy limit of type IIB superstring theory, we obtain the non-extremal limit of deformed conifold geometry which is dual to the IR limit of large N thermal QCD. At low
Approaching confinement structure for light quarks in a holographic soft wall QCD model
We study confinement-deconfinement phase transition in a holographic soft-wall QCD model. By solving the Einstein-Maxwell-scalar system analytically, we obtain the phase structure of the black hole
Holographic Duals of Quark Gluon Plasmas with Unquenched Flavors
We review the construction of gravitational solutions holographically dual to 𝒩=1 quiver gauge theories with dynamical flavor multiplets. We focus on the D3-D7 construction and consider the finite
Towards New Classes of Flux Compactifications
We derive novel solutions of flux compactification with D7-branes on the resolved conifold in type IIB String Theory and later extend this solution to allow for non-zero temperature. At zero
Confinement-deconfinement phase transition for heavy quarks in a soft wall holographic QCD model
A bstractWe study confinement-deconfinement phase transition for heavy quarks in a soft wall holographic QCD model. We consider a black hole background in an Einstein-Maxwell-scalar system and add
Examining a reduced jet-medium coupling in Pb+Pb collisions at the Large Hadron Collider
Recent data on the nuclear modification factor $R_{AA}$ of jet fragments in 2.76 ATeV Pb+Pb collisions at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) indicate that the jet-medium coupling in a Quark-Gluon Plasma
Jet quenching in heavy-ion collisions: The transition era from RHIC to LHC
A status report on the jet quenching physics in heavy-ion collisions is given as it appears after more than 10 years of collecting and analysing data at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) and

Low energy hadron physics in holographic QCD
We present a holographic dual of four-dimensional, large N_c QCD with massless flavors. This model is constructed by placing N_f probe D8-branes into a D4 background, where supersymmetry is
From string theory to large N QCD
We propose the dual gravity of a non conformal gauge theory which has logarithmic running of couplings in the IR but becomes almost conformal in the far UV. The theory has matter in fundamental
A holographic QCD and excited baryons from string theory
We study baryons of arbitrary isospin in a stringy holographic QCD model. In this D4-D8 holographic setting, the flavor symmetry is promoted to a gauge symmetry in the bulk, and produces, as KK modes
Chiral currents and static properties of nucleons in holographic QCD
We analyze static properties of nucleons in the two flavor holographic QCD model of Sakai and Sugimoto described effectively by a five-dimensional U(2) Yang-Mills theory with the Chern-Simons term on
Holography and unquenched quark-gluon plasmas
We employ the string/gauge theory correspondence to study properties of strongly coupled quark-gluon plasmas in thermal gauge theories with a large number of colors and flavors. In particular, we
Holographic renormalization of cascading gauge theories
We perform a holographic renormalization of cascading gauge theories. Specifically, we find the counterterms that need to be added to the gravitational action of the backgrounds dual to the cascading
Toward large N thermal QCD from dual gravity: The heavy quarkonium potential
We continue our study on the gravity duals for strongly coupled large N QCD with fundamental flavors both at zero and nonzero temperatures. The gravity dual at zero temperature captures the
QCD/String holographic mapping and glueball mass spectrum
Abstract.Recently Polchinski and Strassler reproduced the high energy QCD scaling at fixed angles from a gauge string duality inspired by the AdS/CFT correspondence. In their approach a confining
