A periodically focused, metal-ceramic traveling-wave amplifier that produces 100 kw peak power at 1290 Mc is described. The unique features of this tube are a gridded, convergent flow solid-beam electron gun that can be operated at perveance 5 \times 10^{-6} and a structure design that allows the tube to be operated with the cathode, input and output coaxial lines, and body shell at ground potential and the collector at high voltage.
