A generic cardiac ionic model employing membrane currents based on two-gate Hodgkin-Huxley kinetics is presented. Its generic nature allows it to accurately reproduce action potential waveforms in heterogeneous cardiac tissue by optimizing parameters governing ion channel kinetics and magnitudes.
