Abstract A novel and effective image fusion method is proposed for creating a highly informative and smooth surface of fused image through merging visible and infrared images. Firstly, a two-scale non-subsampled shearlet transform (NSST) is employed to decompose the visible and infrared images into detail layers and one base layer.
