The family Trichodinidae (Ciliophora: Peritrichia) includes nine genera of which the largest genus,Trichodina Ehrenberg, 1830, comprises more than 150 species. In order to provide uniform specific characteristics for taxonomic descriptions of trichodinids, Lom (1958) proposed the use of a set of standard taxonomic characteristics based on silver-impregnated specimens. Although widely in use, this method doesn't provide sufficient guidelines for describing the shape of the denticles, which forms… Expand

TLDR
A new species of Trichodina is described found in the mucus of the body surface of 137 farmed and wild silver catfish located in southern Brazil and in the gills of 99 banded knife fish captured in the basin of Pantanal. Expand
Occurrence of two new species of the genus Dipartiella (Raabe, 1959) Stein 1961 (Ciliophora: Trichodinidae) isolated for the first time from ornamental fish
TLDR
The present study confirms the first report of this genus from ornamental fish species and added two more species under the genus Dipartiella (Raabe, 1959) Stein 1961 along with new host, locality and prevalence rates. Expand
Two species of Mastigodiaptomus (Copepoda: Diaptomidae), hosts of the epibiotic ciliate Trichodina diaptomi (Peritricha) in North America
TLDR
The peritrich epibiotic ciliate Trichodina diaptomi Basson and Van As, 1991 was recorded on the body surface of two Neotropical species of the calanoid copepod genus Mastigodiaptomus in north-central Mexico, and recently for the first time in the Americas. Expand
Trichodinid ectoparasites (Ciliophora: Peritricha) from Misgurnus anguillicaudatus (Cantor) and Anodonta woodiana (Lea) in China, with descriptions of two new species of Trichodina Ehrenberg, 1838
During parasitological surveys in Chongqing, China, three trichodinids infecting a freshwater fish, Misgurnus anguillicaudatus (Cantor), and a mollusc, Anodonta woodiana (Lea), were investigated. TwoExpand
New record of Trichodina unionis (Ciliophora, Trichodinidae) from freshwater gastropods in Bangkok, Thailand
TLDR
The characteristics of the denticles indicated T. unionis as having moderately wide blades and moderately curved blade margins, with distinctive bend angles near the distal end, which showed some variations, which could be due to food availability. Expand
Occurrence of Trichodinid Ciliophorans (Ciliophora: Peritrichida) in the freshwater fishes of the river Churni with description of Trichodina glossogobae sp. nov. in West Bengal, India
TLDR
Between January 2011 and March 2011 occurrence of trichodinid ciliophorans were studied in the freshwater fishes of the river Churni, revealing presence of a new species of the genus Trichodina infesting Glossogobius giuris (Hamilton-Buchanan) and another freshwater fish Labeo bata (Hamilton 1822). First Record of Trichodinella epizootica (Raabe, 1950) Šramek-Hušek, 1953, with Description of Trichodina notopteridae sp. n. (Ciliophora: Peritrichida) from Freshwater Fishes of India
TLDR
During surveys of the trichodinid parasites in the Churni River, India, one each species of the genus Trichodina and TrichODinella from the gills of freshwater fishes were investigated and morphologically studied. Expand

TLDR
Three new forms of Trichodina urinicola were found in newts, Triturus cristatus and T. taeniatus, in three localities in Czechoslovakia, and are to be regarded as provisional ones until it is possible to decide on the basis of a large number of observations the extent of specificity and variation of individual endozoic species of TrICHodina.
