The aim of the work has been the development of a hip joint simulator for comparative wear rate studies of long duration. A five-station apparatus has been designed, constructed and tested. Five total hip joints can be tested at the same time in identical conditions. The flexion-extension motion and the superior-inferior component of the joint contact force are incorporated.
