The mushroom Lepiota josserandii Bon and Boif. has been identified as the cause of an unintentional, fatal intoxication in New York. The course of the symptoms, beginning with a 9 h latent period, was similar to what would be expected in a case of Amanita phalloides-type intoxication. Despite supportive medical care the victim expired 110 h after ingestion. Thin layer chromatography detected the presence of alpha- and gamma-amanitin and radioimmunoassay confirmed a level of 3.5 mg/gm dry weight… Expand

Treatment of Amatoxin Poisoning: 20-Year Retrospective Analysis
TLDR
Benzylpenicillin (Penicillin G) alone and in association was the most frequently utilized chemotherapy but showed little efficacy and future clinical research should focus on confirming the efficacy of silybin, N-acetylcysteine, and detoxication procedures. Expand

Profiling of Amatoxins and Phallotoxins in the Genus Lepiota by Liquid Chromatography Combined with UV Absorbance and Mass Spectrometry
TLDR
Using liquid chromatography coupled to UV absorbance and mass spectrometry, the spectrum of peptide toxins present in six Italian species of Lepiota, including multiple samples of three of them collected in different locations are analyzed. Expand
Determination of alpha- and beta-amanitin in clinical urine samples by Capillary Zone Electrophoresis.
TLDR
The method here described includes the use of non-aggressive reagents to the capillary or the system and is the first Capillary Electrophoresis method used to determine amanitins in clinical samples. Expand
Liver transplantation for severe Lepiota helveola poisoning.
TLDR
The recent experience with liver transplantation in a 27-year-old woman with acute hepatic failure secondary to Lepiota helveola poisoning is described and the indications for orthotopic liver transplation are discussed. Expand

TLDR
Phylogenetic and evolutionary studies suggest that HGT is the underlining cause for the occurrence of POPB and MSDIN in Amanita, Galerina and Lepiota, which are allocated in three distantly-related families. Expand
