A dozen years of Shroud Science Group

title={A dozen years of Shroud Science Group},
  author={Giulio Fanti},
Founded in 2002 by Mario Latendresse and coordinated by the author from 2005, the Shroud Science Group on Yahoo! (SSG) is currently a group of 147 scholars mostly from USA, composed of academics, researchers and scholars presenting a remarkable multidisciplinary approach, necessary for Shroud studies. From 4 th of December 2002 to 5th of June 2014, 25763 messages have been exchanged. The SSG analyzed virtually all of the data pertaining to the Turin Shroud (TS), discovering many interesting…
Comments on a stochastic hypothesis about the body image formation of Turin Shroud
The stochastic process evidenced in this paper to explain why colored fibers appear side-by-side with noncolored fibers in the Shroud image threads is interesting and it should be related to the physical phenomena that could have produced the body image.

List of Evidences of the Turin Shroud
This paper derives from a very wide discussion in the Shroud Science Group and from an in progress paper published in 2005. It has the aim to present all the evidences detected on the Turin Shroud
Image formation and the shroud of Turin
Both the first written historical record and modern radiocarbon analysis date the cloth known as the shroud of Turin to the 13th or 14th century. Interestingly, many people have remained convinced
Open issues regarding the Turin Shroud
This paper discusses open issues of the Turin Shroud, after presenting the very peculiar features of these “impossible” images, in the hope that future scientific research in this direction will cast light on the most important Relic of Christianity.
The Shroud of Turin and its ancient copies
In the authors' opinion, the original Shroud of Turin can not be the work of a painter and the laboratory analyses confirmed the presence of pigments based on heavy elements.
Documenting the Shroud's missing years
History proceeds from documents, not arguments from silence. Besancon alone, of all the major theories of the Turin Shroud’s whereabouts during the missing 150 years, has documents to support its
Life-size Reproduction of the Shroud of Turin and its Image
The Shroud of Turin, although carbon-dated between 1260 and 1390 C.E., is believed by many to be the real burial cloth of Jesus on the basis of other evidence. Part of the controversy arises from the
Physics and chemistry of the shroud of Turin: a summary of the 1978 investigation
Abstract This report reviews and correlates results obtained from tests conducted on the Shroud of Turin during the October 1978 investigation. Several image formation hypotheses are addressed.
Microscopic and Macroscopic Characteristics of the Shroud of Turin Image Superficiality
The "superficiality" of the Turin Shroud body image is described at the fabric, thread and fiber levels to help formulate future hypotheses about the body image formation process.

The Turin Shroud Was Not Flattened Before the Images Formed and no Major Image Distortions Necessarily Occur from a Real Body
We show that, when the images formed, the frontal part of the Shroud of Turin laid on a body in the same position as when the blood stains formed by contact. In other words, after the Shroud was laid
