Introduction Like most African countries—and more generally, like many modern states stemming from the colonial period—Kenya presents a sort of paradox: the many vernacular societies which make up the country are characterized by a particular feature: they think themselves under the mark of unity, indeed unicity, unity of language, unity of lifestyle, political unity. This social representation has had, for centuries, the consequence of rejecting other societies to the boundaries of humanity…
