To facilitate life span research on depressive symptomatology, a depressive symptom scale for the California Psychological Inventory (CPI) is needed. The authors constructed such a scale (the CPI-D) and compared its psychometric properties with 2 widely used self-report depression scales: the Beck Depression Inventory and the Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale. Construct validity of the CPI-D was examined in 3 studies. Study 1 established content validity, classifying CPI-D…

[Elaboration and validation of the Depression Scale for the Elderly].
TLDR
Scale validation demonstrated that the depression scale for the elderly is composed of two factors: cognitive-affective and somato-motor, which explain 53% of the BDI (convergent validity).
The Persistent Complex Bereavement Inventory: A Measure Based on the DSM-5
TLDR
Preliminary evidence for a reliable and valid way to measure PCBD symptomatology is provided.
Broadening the research on self-esteem: A new scale for longitudinal studies
When interest in self-esteem exploded in the 1980s, many longitudinal studies were already under way and thus did not administer self-esteem measures. Consequently, not much is known about the

Elaboração e validação da Escala de Depressão para Idosos
The objective of this study was to develop and validate the Depression Scale for the Elderly. An explanatory theoretical model was developed for depression, consisting of three categories: cognitive,

Factorial and discriminant validity of the Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression (CES-D) scale.
TLDR
A high correlation was obtained between the CES-D and trait anxiety, which suggests that the CESTheD measures in large part the related conceptual psychological domain of predisposition for anxiousness.
The CES-D Scale
The CES-D scale is a short self-report scale designed to measure depressive symptomatology in the general population. The items of the scale are symptoms associated with depression which have been

Assessing depressive symptoms in five psychiatric populations: a validation study.
TLDR
Results show that the CES-D scale is a sensitive tool for detecting depressive symptoms and change in symptoms over time in psychiatric populations, and that it agrees quite well with more lengthy self-report scales used in clinical studies and with clinician interview ratings.
The effects of depression upon responses to the California Psychological Inventory.
TLDR
Overall, the results indicate that when SY, SO, WB, and IE are more then one standard deviation below the mean, depression is likely.
A psychometric evaluation of the Beck Depression inventory-II

Tripartite model of anxiety and depression: psychometric evidence and taxonomic implications.
TLDR
Results suggest that anxiety and depression can be reliably and validly assessed; moreover, although these disorders share a substantial component of general affective distress, they can be differentiated on the basis of factors specific to each syndrome.
Examining scale discriminability in the BDI and CES-D as a function of depressive severity.
Scale discriminability is the ability of a measure to discriminate among individuals ordered along some continuum, such as depressive severity. We used a nonparametric item-response model to examine
REPLICATION OF FACTORS OF PSYCHOPATHOLOGY IN INTERVIEW, WARD BEHAVIOR AND SELF‐REPORT RATINGS OF HOSPITALIZED DEPRESSIVES
TLDR
The break-up of some of the larger, global factors from the first study into smaller and more narrowly defined factors in the second study was a distinct asset in later efforts to discern the differential effects of various antidepressant drugs.
