In Nissl stained and silver impregnated transverse sections of the chick spinal cord it is possible to subdivide the gray matter of the lumbar region into ten cytoarchitectonically discrete regions or laminae. The laminae are basically similar in both brachial and lumbar regions of the chick cord, with minor exceptions in the dorsal horn.
