This is an account of an attempt to incorporate the computer into research in music theory. The approach to music theory has been heavily influenced by the writings of Heinrich Schenker. However, Schenker's theories have not been followed strictly. Rather, they have served as a launching pad for a theoretical approach to music which is highly compatible with computer programming.
