The highly cross-linked polyethylene liners currently used with modular uncemented cups have substantially decreased wear and osteolysis at early follow-up. However, retroacetabular osteolysis has still been reported in some cases with DePuy Orthopaedic's (Warsaw, IN) second-generation Duraloc acetabular shell.
