Zinc is used in the oil industry as a sacrificial anode for protecting steel storage tanks from corrosion. The behaviour of a sample of zinc from the Algerian metallurgy industry (zinc A) and a commercially available zinc (zinc B) was compared in an electrolyte from storage tank drainage water. The corrosion potential measurements for zinc A confirmed that this material could be used as a sacrificial anode. The polarization curves of the two materials (zinc A and zinc B) were different, zinc A…

Effect of zinc addition on the performance of aluminium alloy sacrificial anode for marine application

In this work, the effect of zinc addition on the performance of aluminum-based sacrificial anode in seawater was investigated. The parameters used in assessing the performance of the cast anodes are

AC Corrosion behaviour of aluminium and zinc sacrificial anodes in seawater

ABSTRACT In this work, the corrosion behaviour of aluminium (Al) and zinc (Zn) sacrificial anodes under AC interference were studied in 3.5% NaCl solution by AC corrosion simulation experiments,

Electrochemical Studies on the Performance of Zinc Used for Alternating Current Mitigation

In this work, the performance of zinc under alternating current (AC) with a decoupler was investigated in 4 g/L Na2SO4 simulated backfill solution by weight loss tests, electrochemical measurements,

CORROSION RESISTANCE OF Zi-Ni COATINGS EXPOSURED TO NEUTRAL SALT SPRAY

S u m m a r y Zn-Ni coatings (c.a. 30 wt.% Ni) have been deposited under galvanostatic conditions on a carbon steel substrate (St3S) from an ammonia bath. The corrosion resistance of the obtained

Corrosion resistance of ZnNiP+Ni composite coatings

ZnNiP+Ni composite coatings were prepared by embedding nickel particles into ZnNiP alloy using ammonia solution in which Ni powder was suspended by stirring. Such coatings have been deposited on

Zn-Ni coatings (c.a. 30 wt.% Ni) have been deposited under galvanostatic conditions on a carbon steel substrate (St3S) from an ammonia bath. The corrosion resistance of the obtained coatings was

Investigation of the Anodic Dissolution of Zinc in Sodium Chloride Electrolyte - A Green Process

The anodic dissolution of zinc electrodes in sodium chloride aqueous solution has been investigated experimentally. The effects of application of polarity reversal (PR), ultrasonic (US) enhancement,

Effect of temperature on the passivation behavior of steel rebar

Steel rebar normally forms an oxide or rusty skin before it is embedded into concrete and the passivation properties of this skin will be heavily influenced by temperature. To study the effect of
