Chironomus riparius Meigen and Chironomus tentans Fabricius were examined under controlled conditions and exposed to the reference toxicants cadmium and lindane (gamma-hexachlorocyclohexane) to identify any differences that could have implications for their use in aquatic toxicity testing.
