France issued a decree to restrict and prohibit mainly outdoor lighting effective from January 1st, 2019. Effectiveness of this legislation has been evaluated in this study using GIS data which was first used in \cite{2020MNRAS.493.1204A} (so called astroGIS database - \url{this http URL}). A subset of Artificial Light layer of astroGIS database has been adapted for years between January 2012 and December 2019. During 2019, radiance of $1.9 \times 10^{9}$ W cm$^{-2}$ sr$^{-1}$ has been released… Expand

The light pollution as a surrogate for urban population of the US cities
Abstract We show that the definition of the city boundaries can have a dramatic influence on the scaling behavior of the night-time light (NTL) as a function of population (POP) in the US. Precisely,Expand
Night-sky radiometry can revolutionize the characterization of light-pollution sources globally
TLDR
The experiment has proven that radiometry of a night sky can provide information on the light output pattern of a distant city and allows for systematic, full-area, and cost-efficient CEF monitoring worldwide. Expand
The nature of the diffuse light near cities detected in nighttime satellite imagery
TLDR
It is shown that the effect seen on the DMSP/OLS, SNPP/VIIRS-DNB and ISS is not only instrumental, but in fact represents a real detection of light scattered by the atmosphere. Expand
Artificially lit surface of Earth at night increasing in radiance and extent
TLDR
The first-ever calibrated satellite radiometer designed for night lights is used to show that from 2012 to 2016, Earth’s artificially lit outdoor area grew by 2.2% per year, with a total radiance growth of 1.8% peryear. Expand
Using Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) Imagery to identify and analyze light pollution
Light pollution is any adverse effect of artificial lighting including sky glow, glare, light trespass, light clutter, decreased visibility at night, and energy waste. Remote sensing is theExpand
The new world atlas of artificial night sky brightness
TLDR
The world atlas of zenith artificial night sky brightness is modelled with VIIRS DNB data and calibrated with new high-resolution satellite data and new precision sky brightness measurements, showing that more than 80% of the world and more than 99%" of the U.S. and European populations live under light-polluted skies. VIIRS night-time lights
ABSTRACT The Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) Day/Night Band (DNB) collects global low-light imaging data that have significant improvements over comparable data collected for 40Expand
Evaluating the Ability of NPP-VIIRS Nighttime Light Data to Estimate the Gross Domestic Product and the Electric Power Consumption of China at Multiple Scales: A Comparison with DMSP-OLS Data
TLDR
This study reveals that the NPP-VIIRS data can be a powerful tool for modeling socioeconomic indicators; such as GDP and EPC. Expand
Global Site Selection for Astronomy
A global site selection for astronomy was performed with 1 km spatial resolution ($\sim$ 1 Giga pixel in size) using long term and up-to-date datasets to classify the entire terrestrial surface onExpand
Sky Quality Meter and satellite correlation for night cloud-cover analysis at astronomical sites
The analysis of the night cloud cover is very important for astronomical observation in real time, considering a typical observation time of about 15 minutes, and to have a statistics of the nightExpand
