. An incoming elastodynamic wave impinges on an elastic obstacle is embedded in an infinite elastic medium. The objective of the paper is to examine the subsequent elastic fields scattered by and transmitted into the elastic obstacle. By applying a boundary-field equation method, we are able to for-mulate a nonlocal boundary problem (NBP) in the Laplace transformed domain, using the field equations inside the obstacle and boundary integral equations in the exterior elastic medium. A time-dependent wave-thermoelastic solid interaction

This paper presents a combined field and boundary integral equation method for solving time-dependent scattering problem of a thermoelastic body immersed in a compressible, inviscid and homogeneous

Evolution of a semidiscrete system modeling the scattering of acoustic waves by a piezoelectric solid

We consider a model problem of the scattering of linear acoustic waves in free homogeneous space by an elastic solid. The stress tensor in the solid combines the effect of a linear dependence of

Stable numerical coupling of exterior and interior problems for the wave equation

TLDR
The derivation of stability estimates is based on a strong positivity property of the Calderón boundary operators for the Helmholtz and wave equations and uses energy estimates both in time and frequency domain, and yields optimal-order error bounds of the full discretization.

Time‐dependent fluid‐structure interaction

The problem of determining the manner in which an incoming acoustic wave is scattered by an elastic body immersed in a fluid is one of the central importance in detecting and identifying submerged

Boundary and coupled boundary–finite element methods for transient wave–structure interaction

We propose time-domain boundary integral and coupled boundary integral and variational formulations for acoustic scattering by linearly elastic obstacles. Well posedness along with stability and

On the multistep time discretization of linear\newline initial-boundary value problems and their boundary integral equations

Summary.Convergence estimates in terms of the data are shown for multistep methods applied to non-homogeneous linear initial-boundary value problems. Similar error bounds are derived for a new class

A Neumann series representation for solutions to boundary-value problems in dynamic elasticity

A regularized integral equation formulation for two exterior fundamental boundary-value problems in elastodynamics is presented. In either case, the displacement vector is assumed to be harmonic in

On the propagation of acoustic waves in a thermo-electro-magneto-elastic solid

In this paper, we are concerned with a time-dependent transmission problem for a thermo-electric-magneto-elastic solid immersed in an inviscid and compressible fluid. It is shown that the problem can

Time-Dependent Wave-Structure Interaction Revisited: Thermo-piezoelectric Scatterers

TLDR
It is shown that the time-dependent transmission problem for a thermo-piezoelectric elastic body that is immersed in a compressible fluid can be treated by the boundary-field equation method, provided that an appropriate scaling factor is employed.
