We use high-resolution N-body simulations to study the equilibrium density profiles of dark matter halos in hierarchically clustering universes. We find that all such profiles have the same shape, independent of the halo mass, the initial density fluctuation spectrum, and the values of the cosmological parameters. Spherically averaged equilibrium profiles are well fitted over two decades in radius by a simple formula originally proposed to describe the structure of galaxy clusters in a cold…
How Universal Are the Density Profiles of Dark Halos
We use high-resolution N-body simulations to investigate the formation of virialized halos due to the gravitational collapse of collisionless matter. A variety of formation scenarios are studied,
The Density Profile of Equilibrium and Nonequilibrium Dark Matter Halos
We study the diversity of the density pro—les of dark matter halos based on a large set of high- resolution cosmological simulations of 2563 particles. The cosmological models include four scale-free
Are mergers responsible for universal halo properties
N-body simulations of cold dark matter (CDM) have shown that, in this hierarchical structure formation model, dark matter halo properties, such as the density profile, the phase-space density
The Case for a Universal Density Profile in Clusters of Galaxies
We study the radial profiles of 15 cluster-size halos from high resolution adiabatic SPH simulations. We conclude that the dark matter density of relaxed clusters can be fitted by a NFW profile,
The Clustering of Massive Halos
The clustering properties of dark matter halos are a firm prediction of modern theories of structure formation. We use two large-volume, high-resolution N-body simulations to study how the
Density profiles of dark matter haloes: diversity and dependence on environment
We study the outer density profiles of dark matter haloes predicted by a generalized secondary infall model and observed in a dissipationless cosmological simulation of a low-density flat cold dark
Merger versus Accretion and the Structure of Dark Matter Halos
High-resolution N-body simulations of hierarchical clustering in a wide variety of cosmogonies show that the density profiles of dark matter halos are universal, with low-mass halos being denser than
Is the Concentration of Dark Matter Halos at Virialization Universal
Several recent studies suggest a correlation between dark matter halo mass and the shape of the density profile. We reanalyze simulations from Ricotti in which such a correlation was first proposed.

TLDR
It is concluded that the dark matter density profiles, especially in the inner region, are not universal, because of the mass dependence of the inner slope with the primordial index of the fluctuation spectrum.
X-Ray Gas Density Profile of Clusters of Galaxies from the Universal Dark Matter Halo
The X-ray cluster gas density distribution in hydrostatic equilibrium is computed from the universal density profile of the dark matter halo proposed by Navarro, Frenk, & White in two recent studies.

The structure of dark matter haloes in hierarchical clustering models
We use a set of large cosmological N-body simulations to study the internal structure of dark matter haloes which form in scale-free hierarchical clustering models (initial power spectra P(k) ∞ kn
The structure and dynamical evolution of dark matter haloes
We use N-body simulations to investigate the structure and dynamical evolution of dark matter halos in clusters of galaxies. Our sample consists of nine massive halos from an Einstein-De Sitter
Merger rates in hierarchical models of galaxy formation
We present an analytical description of the merging of virialized haloes which is applicable to any hierarchical model in which structure grows via gravitational instability. The formulae are an
The Structure of cold dark matter halos
High resolution N-body simulations show that the density profiles of dark matter halos formed in the standard CDM cosmogony can be fit accurately by scaling a simple “universal” profile. Regardless
The cosmological dependence of cluster density profiles
We use N-body simulations to study the shape of mean cluster density and velocity profiles in the nonlinear regime formed via gravitational instability. The dependence of the final structure on both
Simulations of X-ray clusters
We present simulations of the formation and evolution of galaxy clusters in the Cold Dark Matter cosmogony. Clusters with a wide range of mass were selected from previous N-body models, and were
The structure of cold dark matter halos
The density profiles and shapes of dark halos are studied using the results of N-body simulations of the gravitational collapse of density peaks. The simulations use from 3×10 4 to 3×10 5 particles,
Rotation of halos in open and closed universes: differentiated merging and natural selection of galaxy types

Cold dark matter, the structure of galactic haloes and the origin of the Hubble sequence
A popular theory for galaxy formation holds that the Universe is dominated by exotic particles such as axions, photinos or gravitinos (collectively known as cold dark matter, CDM)1–3. This hypothesis
Profiles of clusters of galaxies - Cosmological scenarios versus observations
