We have all read that: (1) organized medicine was laughing at the germ theory and refused to wash its hands in the late 1800's while women died of childbed fever and other patients of wound sepsis (scientists in general, including physicists, were among those who died); and (2) during the 1900's, and still today, organized medicine is laughing at the essential nutrient theory. We now hear the medical quality assurance boards enforce MANY MISTAKEN VIEWS and DO NOT recognize that: "xenobiotics…

Mercury dental amalgams: The controversy continues
- Medicine
- 2002
There is a disconnect between the long-standing assumption that mercury amalgams are nontoxic and the evidence showing otherwise, which reminds us of an important principle: What has been accepted as true is not always so scientifically.

Important discovery was announced 27 years ago when McCully published his theory that made a number of predictions including: a low ratio of B6 to protein causes a toxic metabolite called homocysteine (HO) to be formed (from the amino acid methionine); and HO would collect in the blood and result in lesions of the intimal surface.

It is realized that certain of the older methods of analysis did not give accurate results, but it is hoped that present methods will be of value within certain rather broad limits.

A lack of interdisciplinary research and of a critical approach to established clinical routine appears to be the reason for the failure of the dental profession to protect the patient from Hg exposure when saving the tooth.

In Vitamin C: Its Molecular Biology and Medical Potential, Sherry Lewin attempts to provide a theoretical basis by which ascorbic acid, when taken in large quantities, acts as an inhibitor of carcinogenesis, as a partial cure for atherosclerosis, cancer, and the common cold, and as a reliever of mental stress and a facilitator of synaptic transmission.

The new behavioural study among dentists by Ritchie et al found no adverse effects associated with low exposure to mercury in urine, hair, or nails, and laudably addresses the World Health Organisation's request for chronic Hgo exposure studies that are useful in defining a threshold of effect below 25 μg/l.

This work has brought to light certain evidence which argues against the concept of universal latent immunization and favors acceptance of the view that the mechanism of natural resistance to this disease is purely physiological, depending essentially upon the function of the normal endocrine balance.
