This paper presents an integrated framework for system identification. This framework provides a useful tool for obtaining and validating system models. Once the model is synthesized, a validation process is applied to a real-time implementation within the Real-Time Virtual Test Bed (RTVTB). As a demonstration, a 3 rd -order filter is taken as the system under test (SUT). The system identification and real-time model verification are performed, and the results are given. The selection of the type and characteristics of the plant excitation signal is also discussed.
