A potent virucidal mixture containing amyl metacresol and dichlorobenzyl alcohol at low pH inactivated enveloped respiratory viruses influenza A, respiratory synctial virus (RSV) and severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV) but not viruses with icosahedral symmetry, such as adenoviruses or rhinoviruses.
