Context. A growing number of researchers present evidence that the pu lsar wind nebula 3C 58 is much older than predicted by its proposed connection to the historical supernova of A.D. 118 1. There is also a great diversity of arguments. The stronges t of these arguments rely heavily on the assumed distance of 3.2 kpc det ermined with Hi absorption measurements. Aims. This publication aims at determining a more accurate distan ce for 3C 58 and re-evaluating the arguments for a larger age…

The Remnant and Origin of the Historical Supernova 1181 AD
The guest star of AD 1181 is the only historical supernova of the past millennium that is without a definite counterpart. The previously proposed association with supernova remnant G130.7+3.1 (3C 58)
Revealing hidden variability in PWNe with spectral index maps
Pulsar wind nebulae (PWNe) are the synchrotron bubbles inflated by the rotational energy of a neutron star. Observing variability within them has previously been limited to cases of significant
A Comprehensive Study of the Spectral Variation and the Brightness Profile of Young Pulsar Wind Nebulae
We present a systematic study of particle transport by diffusion in young pulsar wind nebulae (PWNe). We selected nine bright sources that are well resolved with the Chandra X-ray Observatory. We

We report on new NuSTAR and archival Chandra observations of the pulsar wind nebula (PWN) 3C 58. Using the X-ray data, we measure energy-dependent morphologies and spatially resolved spectra of the
3D mapping of the Crab Nebula with SITELLE – I. Deconvolution and kinematic reconstruction
We present a hyperspectral cube of the Crab Nebula obtained with the imaging Fourier transform spectrometer SITELLE on the Canada-France-Hawaii telescope. We describe our techniques used to
Exploiting morphological data from Pulsar Wind Nebulae via a spatiotemporal leptonic transport code
The next era of ground-based Cherenkov telescope development will see a great increase in both quantity and quality of $\gamma$-ray morphological data. This initiated the development of a
Cosmic Ray production in SNRs of Pulsar Wind Nebulae type at different ages
The overall observations of plerions from radio to the very high energy gamma-rays could provide information about the evolution of PWN from the young Crab-like to the older stages. The extended
Witnessing history: sky distribution, detectability, and rates of naked-eye Milky Way supernovae
The Milky Way hosts on average a few supernova explosions per century, yet in the past millennium only five supernovae have been identified confidently in the historical record. This deficit of
Outflow and Emission Model of Pulsar Wind Nebulae with the Back Reaction of Particle Diffusion
We present a new pulsar wind nebula (PWN) model that solves both advection and diffusion of nonthermal particles in a self-consistent way to satisfy the momentum and energy conservation laws.
Energy-dependent nebula extent and spatially resolved spectra of the pulsar wind nebula 3C 58
3C 58 is a pulsar wind nebula (PWN) that shows an interesting energy-dependent nebula extent and spatial variations of the photon index and surface brightness in the X-ray band. These observations
