BACKGROUND Lots of novel tick-borne viruses have been discovered by deep sequencing technology in recent years, however, their medical significance is unknown. METHODS We obtained the clinical data of a patient from Xinjiang, China. Possible pathogens were detected by metagenomic analysis and the causative pathogen Tacheng tick virus 1 (TcTV-1) was found and further confirmed by RT-PCR, viral culture, and sequence analyses. Epidemiological investigation was conducted in local human population…
Identification of a new orthonairovirus associated with human febrile illness in China
TLDR
A novel orthonairovirus is identified, designated Sōnglǐng virus (SGLV), from patients who reported being bitten by a tick in China, and it was shown to be associated with human febrile illness in northeastern China.
Identification of a new orthonairovirus associated with human febrile illness in China.
TLDR
A new orthonairovirus, Songling virus (SGLV), is identified from patients who reported being bitten by ticks in Heilongjiang Province in northeastern China and is associated with human febrile illness in China.
A novel nairovirus associated with acute febrile illness in Hokkaido, Japan
TLDR
It is demonstrated that YEZV is highly likely to be the causative pathogen of febrile illness, representing the first report of an endemic infection associated with an orthonairovirus potentially transmitted by ticks in Japan.
A case report of autochthonous Q fever with pneumonia and hepatitis in northeastern China
TLDR
This was the first reported case of Q fever with pneumonia and hepatitis in this country, and Coxiella burnetii was positive in the patient's blood specimens.
Discovery and genetic characterization of a novel orthonairovirus in Ixodes ricinus ticks from Danube Delta.
TLDR
The characterization of a novel orthonairovirus identified using high throughput sequencing will advance knowledge of interactions between viruses and tick vectors, expanding the perspective on fundamental questions regarding orthon Cairovirus evolution, diversity, ecology and potential of emergence as pathogens.
A tick bite patient with fever and meningitis co-infected with Rickettsia raoultii and Tacheng tick virus 1: a case report
TLDR
The first reported co-infection case with fever and meningitis caused by R. raoultii and TcTV-1 is reported, vital to screen for multiple pathogens in tick-bitten patients, especially in those with severe complex symptoms.
Viral RNA Metagenomics of Hyalomma Ticks Collected from Dromedary Camels in Makkah Province, Saudi Arabia
TLDR
The presence of human pathogenetic viruses warrants further efforts in tick surveillance, xenosurveillence, vector control, and sero-epidemiological investigations in human and animal populations to predict, contain and mitigate future outbreaks in the region.
Characterization of Keterah orthonairovirus and evaluation of therapeutic candidates against Keterah orthonairovirus infectious disease.
TLDR
The present study showed that the species Keterah orthonairovirus could proliferate in most mammal-derived cell lines and cause severe liver lesions and death in IFNAR-/- mice and that serum transfusion might be effective in treatment against Issyk-Kul fever.
Detection of Jingmenviruses in Japan with Evidence of Vertical Transmission in Ticks
TLDR
Jingmen tick virus (JMTV) and a novel jingmenvirus, tentatively named Takachi virus (TAKV), have now been identified during a surveillance of tick-borne viruses in Japan, suggesting viral circulation in natural transmission cycles in these areas.
Novel viruses in hard ticks collected in the Republic of Korea unveiled by metagenomic high-throughput sequencing analysis.
TLDR
The discovery of novel viruses associated with ticks in the ROK highlights the need for an active tick-borne disease surveillance program to identify possible reservoirs of putative novel human pathogens.

TLDR
A newly discovered NSDV is described by viral metagenomic analysis of ticks collected from the northeast region of the People’s Republic of China during May–July, 2013, and divided into 9 groups according to tick species and sampling sites, and shared 92% identity with N SDV from H. longicornis.
Phylogenetic and Geographic Relationships of Severe Fever With Thrombocytopenia Syndrome Virus in China, South Korea, and Japan.
TLDR
Two clades of SFTSV may have evolved separately over time, and on rare occasions, the viruses were transmitted overseas to the region in which viruses of the other clade were prevalent.
Ecology of the Tick-Borne Phlebovirus Causing Severe Fever with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome in an Endemic Area of China
TLDR
The detection ofSFTSV-RNA in non-engorged larvae indicated that vertical transmission of SFTSV in H. longicornis might occur in nature, which suggests that H.LongicornIS is a putative reservoir host of SF TSV.
