This paper aims at being a guide to understand the different types of transportation problems by presenting a survey of mathematical models and algorithms used to solve different types of transportation modes (ship, plane, train, bus, truck, Motorcycle, Cars, and others) by air, water, space, cables, tubes, and road. Some problems are as follows: bus scheduling problem, delivery problem, combining truck trip problem, open vehicle routing problem, helicopter routing problem, truck loading…

Metaheuristic Method for Transport Modelling and Optimization

A model of public transport is proposed using ant colony optimization approach to model the passenger flow and shows how many passengers will use a train and how many will using a bus according to what is more important for them, the price or the time.

A Data-Driven Approach to Constraint Optimization

The article proposes a data-driven approach, which allows a significant reduction in the magnitude of modelled problems and, consequently, the possibility of solving many real problems in an acceptable time.

A multi-stage model for food distribution, that allows to improve the efficiency of the logistics operation in four marginal areas of the city with the use of three platforms, was designed.

A Comparative Study of Solving Methods of Transportation Problem in Linear Programming Problem

Among all of existing methods, the Vogel’s Approximation Method (VAM) is considered the best method which gives the better optimal result then other methods and North-West Corner Rule is considered as simplest but gives worst result.

A model to evaluate the hubbing effect on transportation networks

A network flow model that supports the evaluation of the hubbing effect on freight transportation networks has been developed, with a graph adaptable to different supply chains and freight networks, containing one or more hubs.

Modeling of Passenger Transport Logistics Based on Intelligent Computational Techniques

The analysis of the application of classic and optimized triangular norms in the hierarchical structure of weighted fuzzy Petri nets on the example of passenger transport logistics results in a hierarchical structure which includes 125 possible combinations of triples of functions for calculation processing.

Optimization of hazardous pol transportation problem based on simulated annealing genetic algorithm

The test shows that the SAGA can provide more reliable solution than the GA, and demonstrates that the algorithm boasts stronger global searching ability than theGA.

A Survey of Optimization Models for Train Routing and Scheduling
