We study aspects of the accelerating cosmologies obtained from the compactification of the vacuum solution and S2-branes of superstring/M theories. The parameter dependence of the resulting expansion of our universe and internal space is examined for all cases. We find that accelerated expansions are obtained also from spherical internal spaces, albeit the solution enters a contracting phase eventually. The relation between the models of SM2- and SD2-branes is also discussed, and a potential…
Chern-Simons S-Brane Solutions in M-theory and Accelerating Cosmologies
We construct an intersecting S-brane solution of 11-dimensional supergravity for which the contribution of the Chern-Simons term to the field equations is non-zero. After studying some of its
Accelerating cosmologies from M/String theory compactifications
M/string theory, S-branes and the accelerating universe
Recently it was observed that the hyperbolic compactification of M/string theory related to S-branes may lead to a transient period of acceleration of the universe. We study time evolution of the
Inflation from superstring and M-theory compactification with higher order corrections. - II. - Case of quartic Weyl terms
We present a detailed study of inflationary solutions in M theory with higher order quantum corrections. We first exhaust all exact and asymptotic solutions of exponential and power-law expansions in
Remarks on Tachyon Driven Cosmology
We begin by reviewing the results on the decay of unstable D-branes in type II string theory, and the open–closed string duality proposal that arises from these studies. We then apply this proposal
Brane cosmology in the Horava-Witten heterotic M-theory on S1/Z2
We study the radion stability and radion mass in the framework of the Horava-Witten (HW) heterotic M-Theory on S1/Z2, and find that the radion is stable and its mass can be of the order of GeV. The
Space-like branes, accelerating cosmologies and the near `horizon' limit
It is known that there exist two different classes of time dependent solutions in the form of space-like (or S)-branes in the low energy M/string theory. Accelerating cosmologies are known to arise
M-theory cosmologies from singular Calabi–Yau compactifications
We study five-dimensional Kasner cosmologies in a time-dependent Calabi–Yau compactification of M-theory undergoing a flop transition. The dynamics of the additional states, which become massless at
