The Pennsylvania State University 4 Abstract Animal movement exhibits complex behavior which can 5 be influenced by unobserved environmental conditions. We propose 6 a model which allows for a spatially-varying movement rate and 7 spatially-varying drift through a semiparametric potential surface 8 and a separate motility surface.
