This paper discusses a simple model for approximating the per-unit-length parameters of a lossy cable providing a smooth transition from low to high frequencies. Using Schelkunoff's classical expressions for the transmission-line parameters of a coaxial line, the simple model is postulated and used to provide approximate responses that can be compared with the rigorous solutions.
