Serum samples were collected from 29 Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep (Ovis canadensis) in their natural habitats in Colorado and Wyoming. Sera were tested for the presence of antibodies to six viruses. Hemagglutination inhibition tests indicated 18 sheep had antibodies to PI3, with 9 having titers greater than 1:8 and 24 sheep had antibodies to bovine parvovirus 1, with 24 having titers greater than 1:8. Serum neutralization tests showed one sheep had antibodies to the viruses of blue-tongue and…
Response of Vaccinated and Unvaccinated Bighorn Sheep (Ovis canadensis canadensis) to Experimental Respiratory Syncytial Virus Challenge
TLDR
The effects of RSV challenge inoculation in vaccinated and unvaccinated bighorns were studied to study the effects of neutralizing antibody titers to RSV, which remained higher in vaccinated lambs over time when compared to un Vaccinated lambs.
SEROLOGIC SURVEY FOR SELECTED MICROBIAL AGENTS IN MAMMALS FROM ALBERTA, 1976
TLDR
Findings represent extension of the natural host range for IBR, CAL, and NOR infection in North America; and the geographical distribution of CAL infection within Alberta.
Viral diseases of northern ungulates
This paper describes viral diseases reported in northern ungulates and those that are a potential threat to these species. The following diseases are discussed: bovine viral diarrhoea/mucosal disease
Habitat Quality in Association with Herd Health in Two Bighorn Sheep (Ovis canadensis canadensis) Populations
Multiple factors have been identified as elements of the respiratory disease complex in Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep (Ovis canadensis canadensis). We hypothesized that differences in health factors
Serum Antibody Prevalence of Parainfluenza 3 Virus in a Free-ranging Bison (Bison bison) Herd from Alaska
Serum antibody prevalence of parainfluenza 3 virus in the free-ranging Delta bison (Bison bison) herd which is found near Delta Junction, Alaska (USA), increased from 0% to 100% during the period
Detection of serum antibodies to parainfluenza type 3 virus, respiratory syncytial virus, bovine viral diarrhea virus, and herpes virus type 1 in sheep in the Region of Botucatu, São Paulo - Brazil
TLDR
Results indicate that B PI3, BRSV, and BVDV occurr in sheep flocks of the Region of Botucatu, Sao Paulo, and that BPI3 is probably the main agent involved in viral pneumonia cases in the region.
Pestivirus infections in ruminants other than cattle.

TLDR
Serological surveys have shown that many species of free-living ruminants in North America, Europe and Africa have varying prevalence rates of antibodies to pestiviruses.
A Review of Hypothesized Determinants Associated with Bighorn Sheep (Ovis canadensis) Die-Offs
TLDR
Uncertainty remains as to whether outbreaks are due to endemic or recently introduced agents, and absence of established and universal explanations for outbreaks contributes to conflict among wildlife and livestock stakeholders over land use and management practices.

Infection of Bighorn Sheep (Ovis canadensis) with Myxovirus parainfluenza-3 and Other Respiratory Viruses. Results of Serologic Tests and Culture of Nasal Swabs and Lung Tissue
TLDR
Tissue cultures of nasal swabs and lung tissue were positive for cytopathogenic effects and hemadsorption and the serums of two bighorns with pneumonia were negative for neutralizing antibodies against IBR virus and theserums of 9 animals failed to show significant titers against 2 strains of human Asian influenza virus.
Bluetongue in the Desert Bighorn Sheep
A young desert bighorn ram (Ovis canadensis) approximately 8 months old was found ill in its natural habitat. Inoculation of a suspension of its lung tissue into domestic sheep resulted in lesions
Adenoviral Infection in Suckling Arabian Foals
A fatal adenoviral infection was recently recognized in suckling Arabian foals from Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, and Wyoming. Affected foals had clinical signs of pneumonia accompanied by fever,
