ABSTRACT THIS ARTICLE WILL REVIEW THE EFFICACY OF SEVERAL DIFFERENT WEIGHT TRAINING AIDS THAT ARE AVAILABLE FOR USE BY RECREATIONAL WEIGHT TRAINERS AND ALSO COMPETITIVE ATHLETES IN THE SPORTS OF WEIGHTLIFTING AND POWERLIFTING. SOME OF THESE AIDS HAVE BEEN INVESTIGATED BY RESEARCHERS WHILE INFORMATION REGARDING THE USE OF OTHERS HAS BEEN LEFT TO PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE. THIS REVIEW WILL DISCUSS THE USE AND EFFECTIVENESS OF MANY WEIGHT TRAINING AIDS, THEREBY OFFERING PRACTITIONERS THE ABILITY TO…
Effect of a Neoprene Knee Sleeve on Performance and Muscle Activity in Men and Women During High-Intensity, High-Volume Resistance Training
TLDR
It is suggested that wearing compressive neoprene KSs has no effect on improving performance and associated variables during high-load, high-volume lower-body resistance training.
The influence of weightlifting belts and wrist straps on deadlift kinematics, time to complete a deadlift and rating of perceived exertion in male recreational weightlifters
Abstract Both weightlifting belts and wrist straps are commonly used weightlifting training aids but their effects on deadlift kinematics and performance were still not known. This study examined the
Tight Margins: Compression Garment Use during Exercise and Recovery—A Systematic Review
TLDR
During exercise, CGs have a limited effect on global measures of endurance performance but may improve some sport-specific variables (e.g., countermovement jump height) and CGs for recovery appear to have a positive benefit on subsequent bouts of endurance and resistance exercise.
THE INFLUENCE OF HAND GUARDS ON EXPLOSIVE FORCE AND PAIN AND EXERTION PERCEPTION IN A HANG HOLDING TASK
TLDR
The use of HG reduces the perception of local pain during static holds, however, HG do not alter the perceptions of exertion during the task nor do they alter the gripping force ability immediately afterwards.
Neoprene Knee Sleeves of Varying Tightness Augment Barbell Squat One Repetition Maximum Performance Without Improving Other Indices of Muscular Strength, Power, or Endurance.
TLDR
It is demonstrated that neoprene knee sleeves may function independent of tightness, relative to recommended sizing and ultimately unlike knee wraps, and the singular benefits observed on barbell squat maximal strength potentially suggests an exercise-specific benefit yet to be fully elucidated.
Contemporary Training Practices of Norwegian Powerlifters.
TLDR
Norwegian powerlifters' training differs from practices previously identified in the literature, with a higher prevalence of elastic resistance, particularly for those competing internationally, and a decreased use of weightlifting exercises at all levels.
System for Evaluating Powerlifting and Other Multievent Performances
TLDR
A simple and statistically sound method for evaluating powerlifting performance which overcomes the bias against bench press and many of the measurement challenges in evaluating athletes in multievent sports, in multiple weight divisions, and between sexes.
Utjecaj primjene fitnes gurtni na povećanje ekstenziteta rada
Do prekida rada u osnovnim vježbama dolazi kada najslabiji misici koji sudjeluju u izvedbi vježbe dosegnu misicni otkaz.

A Review of the Use of Lifting Belts
TLDR
Although the results are mixed, the preponderance of evidence supports some use of back belts during resistance training in industrial and strength and conditioning applications.
ACSM's Foundations of Strength Training and Conditioning
Developed by the American College of Sports Medicine, this text offers a comprehensive introduction to the basics of strength training and conditioning based on the latest research findings. "ACSM's
The effectiveness of weight-belts during the squat exercise.
TLDR
Data suggest that a weight-belt can aid in supporting the trunk by increasing IAP, and integrated EMG activity of the muscles and adjusted mean values for back compressive force and back muscle force followed a similar but opposite pattern.
The Impact of Ammonia Inhalants on Strength Performance in Resistance Trained Males
TLDR
If an individual has no pre-existing medical conditions and feels that AIs improve performance, there appears to be no contraindications to using low doses, and many individuals may still continue to use AIs.
The relationship between jaw posture and muscular strength in sports dentistry: a reappraisal.
From the late 1970s until the early 1990s, there have been several reports of improved appendage muscle strength and athletic performance. Much of the criticism of using a mouthguard alone or in
The effectiveness of weight-belts during multiple repetitions of the squat exercise.
TLDR
Analysis of weight-belts during multiple repetitions of the parallel back squat exercise suggests that a weight-belt aids in supporting the trunk by increasing IAP, and that any differential effect due to wearing aWeight-belt did not occur over eight repetitions.
Weight Lifting Belt Use Patterns Among a Population of Health Club Members
TLDR
Many belt users were found to utilize belts during inappropriate situations such as lifting light loads or during exercises that do not typically stress the trunk musculature, suggesting that specific educational interventions be developed at health and fitness facilities to provide a foundation for more informed decision-making regarding weight belt use.
Biomechanics of the squat exercise using a modified center of mass bar.
TLDR
It was estimated that the greater IAP was responsible for relieving back muscle forces and compression by up to 15 and 21%, respectively, and increased stress with the weight at shoulder height stimulated a response for greater I AP to help alleviate the stresses on the spine.
Compression garment promotes muscular strength recovery after resistance exercise.
TLDR
Wearing a CG after resistance exercise facilitates the recovery of muscular strength and facilitation of recovery of lower limb muscles by wearing the CG took a longer time.
Biomechanical Analysis of the Deadlift
The purpose of this study was to document the differences in kinematics between the Sumo and conventional style deadlift techniques as performed by competitive powerlifters. Videotapes of 19
