In an era of implants and fixed prosthesis, removable partial dentures are still a treatment of choice for a wide range of patients and clinicians. As every other treatment option, removable prosthesis also has some disadvantages. But with introduction of flexible partial dentures, many of the disadvantages of conventional acrylic and cast partial dentures are taken care of. This article discusses about the material used in fabrication, indications and compares the flexible partial dentures…
Study of Flexible and Rigid Removable Partial Prostheses Indications in Iraq
TLDR
The fabrication of flexible denture indicated differences between these types of denture rather than acrylic rigid denture, and the analysis of data collected used a quantitative rather than qualitative method.
THE DEVELOPMENT OF FLEXIBLE DENTURE MATERIALS AND CONCEPT: A NARRATIVE REVIEW
TLDR
Each flexible material has its pros and cons and careful selection of material and understanding of the flexible dentures’ indications and contraindications are utmost importance to make sure the best treatment outcome so patients’ best interest and quality of life can be upheld.
THERMOPLASTIC RESIN REMOVABLE PARTIAL DENTURE PREFERRED OVER CONVENTIONAL METAL CLASP RETAINED REMOVABLE PARTIAL DENTURE – A RANDOMIZED STUDY TRIAL.
TLDR
It was seen that overall scores and ratings with TR-RPD‘s were significantly higher than those with MC-R PD’s regarding patient comfort and aesthetic appearance, and the results suggested that TR- RPD”s ushered an advantage over MC-rPD“s concerning patientcomfort and oral appearance in partially edentulous arches.
Do flexible acrylic resin lingual flanges improve retention of mandibular complete dentures?
TLDR
The use of flexible acrylic resin lingual flanges in the construction of mandibular complete dentures improved denture retention, and retention of dentures increased significantly over the follow-up period.
EVALUATION OF RETENTION OF A RECENTLY SUGGESTED FLEXIBLE DENTURE BASE MATERIAL
TLDR
Thermo-elastic heat cure acrylic resin (versacryl) denture exhibit more retention than that of the conventional heat cured acrylic denture.
Preventive Prosthodontics : Combination of Tooth Supported BPS Overdenture & Flexible Removable Partial Denture A .
TLDR
In this case study mandibular tooth supported BPS (bio-functional prosthetic system) overdenture and maxillary flexible partial denture was fabricated for the patient, giving the patient a denture that has more support and retentive principles incorporated, resulting in improved retention.
Effect of flexible acrylic to substitute metal in implant supported removable partial denture on abutments clinical and radiographic outcome
TLDR
The hybrid design that combined a metal framework and acrylic flexible clasp and denture base may be a viable alternative when aesthetics are of primary concern and should include metal rest component.
FLEXIBLE POLYMER DENTURES - CONTEMPORARY SOLUTIONS FOR SUPERIOR ESTHETIC AND COMFORТ
TLDR
Flexible polymer partial dentures present a highly esthetic solution, they are very thin, and through elastic clasps provide good retention and stabilization of the device during the masticatory process, giving the opportunity for greater comfort in the exploitation and faster and shorter adaptation period.
A new method for adding the flexible resin (thermoplastic nylon) to the lingual flanges of mandibular complete denture and its effect on the retention of this denture: A case report
TLDR
The treatment results showed an improvement in denture retention with IRIS denture than Conventional one.
Biocompatibility of Thermoplastic Nylon Flexible Removable Partial Denture – A Review
TLDR
Thermoplastic nylon is an ideal choice for RPD base material construction and patient is motivated to maintain his remaining dentition with good oral hygiene to preserve the integrity of the oral environment.

TLDR
Prosthodontic planning & observations regarding this material are discussed on various parameters and cases who were not satisfied with their conventional acrylic dentures were selected.
Effect of accelerated aging on the microhardness and color stability of flexible resins for dentures.
TLDR
The accelerated aging significantly increased the microhardness values of the resins, with the highest values being observed for Triplex, and Valplast presented the greatest chromatic alteration after accelerated aging.
