Background.—Approximately 4% of adults experience headaches nearly every day. Nonpharmacologic interventions for frequent headaches may be appropriate because medical management alone is often ineffective.
Evaluation of effectiveness and safety of acupuncture in the treatment of migraine: a systematic review and a randomised controlled trial
TLDR
Migraine affects 8 -16% of population in different countries resulting in significant economic and social impacts and an increasing proportion of patients pre-drugs, and current pharmacological treatment provides symptomatic relief but not without side effects.
Role of Acupuncture in the Treatment or Prevention of Migraine, Tension‐Type Headache, or Chronic Headache Disorders
To summarize the current evidence that evaluates the effectiveness of acupuncture for the treatment or prevention of migraine, tension‐type headache, and chronic headache disorders.
Effect of electro-acupuncture on reducing opioid consumption in patients with chronic pain: a randomised controlled clinical trial
Objectives: Electro-acupuncture (EA) has been demonstrated to be effective in reducing post-operative acute consumption of opioid-like medications (OLM) by previous studies. This effect has not been
Chronic Daily Headache in a Primary Care Population: Prevalence and Headache Impact Test Scores
TLDR
This data indicates that the prevalence of chronic daily headache among patients seen in the primary care setting in the United States, however, is unknown.

Acupuncture in Current Pain Management
TLDR
The scientific data generated from basic science and clinical research is provided to help clinicians gain better knowledge on the role of acupuncture treatment in pain management.
Acupuncture for tension-type headache.
TLDR
It is concluded that acupuncture could be a valuable non-pharmacological tool in patients with frequent episodic or chronic tension-type headaches with small but statistically significant benefits of acupuncture over sham.

TLDR
The typical characteristics of children and adolescents with chronic daily headache are discussed, treatments considered and current data on which to base treatment decisions are reviewed.
Acupuncture for the prevention of tension-type headache.
TLDR
Whether acupuncture is more effective than no prophylactic treatment/routine care only, as effective as other interventions in reducing headache frequency in adults with episodic or chronic tension-type headache and the quality of the acupuncture intervention is investigated is investigated.
Patient‐Centered Outcomes for Frequent Headaches
TLDR
To identify clinical outcomes that headache sufferers consider meaningful, a database of clinical outcomes is analyzed to identify patients who consider these outcomes meaningful.

Does Chronic Daily Headache Arise De Novo in Association With Regular Use of Analgesics?
TLDR
A causal relationship has been suggested consequent to the observation of improvement or resolution of headache following analgesic withdrawal in patients attending headache clinics, but this observation has not been validated by controlled trials.
Acupuncture in headache: a critical review.
TLDR
Clinical trials that evaluate acupuncture frequently are characterized by several inadequacies, but it seems that additional clinical research is necessary to confirm its efficacy and to clarify its indications.
Acupuncture for chronic headache in primary care: large, pragmatic, randomised trial
TLDR
Acupuncture leads to persisting, clinically relevant benefits for primary care patients with chronic headache, particularly migraine, and expansion of NHS acupuncture services should be considered.
Analgesic Overuse Is A Cause of Chronic Daily Headache
TLDR
The development of headache consequent to drug overuse was first proposed over 60 years ago, when Dreisbach suggested that caffeine could cause both chemical dependence and withdrawal headaches upon cessation.
Acupuncture for Recurrent Headaches: A Systematic Review of Randomized Controlled Trials
TLDR
Overall, the existing evidence suggests that acupuncture has a role in the treatment of recurrent headaches, however, the quality and amount of evidence is not fully convincing.
Medication overuse headaches – what is new?
TLDR
In view of the high prevalence and relapse rate, it is necessary to establish a structured post-treatment programme for patients after the acute withdrawal phase, which considers the predictors for relapse.
The Nociceptive Flexion Reflex as a Tool for Exploring Pain Control Systems in Headache and Other Pain Syndromes
TLDR
Nociceptive flexor reflexes appear to be interesting for studying the pathophysiology of head pain mechanisms and possibly for evaluating analgesic treatment.
Features of medication overuse headache following overuse of different acute headache drugs
TLDR
Although patients overusing ergots and analgesics typically had a daily tension-type headache, patients with triptan-induced MOH were more likely to describe a (daily) migrainelike headache or an increase in migraine frequency.
