Received: 06, May, 2015 Final Accepted: 11, June, 2015 Published Online: 16, June, 2015 Aquaculture is an activity that has many interactions with the surrounding environment using resources and producing changes in the ecological system. Aflatoxins are distributed worldwide. Aspergillus species are able to grow in a wide variety of substrates and under different environmental conditions. Toxin formation in aquacultural products occurs in hot and humid weather, and in inadequate or deficient…

Cytotoxicity of Mycotoxins Frequently Present in Aquafeeds to the Fish Cell Line RTGill-W1

The vast majority of the mycotoxins assayed exerted a pronounced acute effect in the fish RTgill-W1 cell line, emphasizing the need for further studies to ascertain the impact of mycotoxin contamination of fish feeds in the aquaculture industry and to establish safe limits in aquafeeds.

Impact of Mycotoxin Contaminations on Aquatic Organisms: Toxic Effect of Aflatoxin B1 and Fumonisin B1 Mixture

The results showed that the combination of AFB1 and FB1 at nontoxic concentrations exerted a negative effect on the lethal endpoints analyzed, such as survival, hatching, and heart rate, suggesting that the mixture of mycotoxins carries a greater risk factor than individual presences.

Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) reduces growth performance, physiological response, and disease resistance in Tra catfish (Pangasius hypophthalmus)

This trial shows that AFB1 at a level of 50 μg AFB1 kg−1 and above can affect fish performance and disease resistance and application of an effective mycotoxin management in the feed seems to be useful to prevent the negative effects of AFB1.

Aflatoxin B1 Toxicity in Zebrafish Larva (Danio rerio): Protective Role of Hericium erinaceus

The study suggests that a natural extract such as Hericium may play a partial role in promoting antioxidant defense systems and may contrast lipid peroxidation in fish development by counteracting the AFB1 toxicity mechanism.

Aflatoxins biosynthesis , toxicity and intervention strategies : A review

The chiral stationary phase for high-performance liquid chromatography showed good chiral recognition ability towards various racemates, including polymethine and cadmium, which is a good material foratography of low-tech materials.

Effects of deoxynivalenol (DON) and its microbial biotransformation product deepoxy-deoxynivalenol (DOM-1) on a trout, pig, mouse, and human cell line

In this study, IL-6 was the most sensitive parameter, followed by NO and albumin release and viability for HepG2 and IPEC-1, and the effects of DON and deepoxy-deoxynivalenol were assessed.

Changes in the cerebral phosphotransfer network impair energetic homeostasis in an aflatoxin B1-contaminated diet

Brain cytosolic CK activity decreased in animals fed with a diet contaminated with AFB1 on days 14 and 21 post-feeding, while mitochondrial CK activity increased, when compared to the control group (basal diet).

Assessment of Fungal Contamination in Fish Feed from the Lake Victoria Basin, Uganda

This study shows AFB1 as a potential fish feed safety issue in the LVB and suggests a need for more research on mycotoxin residues in fish fillets.

New Development in Aflatoxin Research: From Aquafeed to Marine Cells

It is demonstrated that seabream hepatocytes are highly sensitive to AFB1 exposure and especially indicate three distinct pathways of cytotoxic response: necrotic cell death, apoptotic cell death and uncontrolled cell proliferation.

Recent Trends in Microbiological Decontamination of Aflatoxins in Foodstuffs

It is suggested that mycotoxin production is generally limited to a relatively small number of mold spe‐ cies, and that toxin may be produced by the whole species or just one specific strain.

Aflatoxins in aquatic species: metabolism, toxicity and perspectives

The goals of this review article are to gather the currently available scientific information, summarising existing data on aflatoxin contamination on feeds and fishmeals, and toxicological effects induced in reared aquatic species, and to make a comparative analysis of AFB1 metabolism in the most representative species studied.

AN OVER REVIEW ON EFFECT OF AFLATOXIN IN ANIMAL HUS- BANDRY

Aflatoxins have been implicated in human health disorders including hepatocellular carcinoma, aflatoxicosis, Rey's syndrome and chronic hepatitis and has an impact on the agricultural economy through the loss of crop production and the time and costs involved in monitoring.
