The present work intends to clarify the phylogenetic relationships among the species of Paspalum L. belonging to the informal groups Notata/Linearia and Dilatata, and to raise some preliminary hypotheses on the phylogeny of the genus as a whole. A combined dataset including morphological and molecular characters was used to analyze 28 species of Paspalum plus some representatives of related genera of the tribe Paniceae. Analyses were performed using both parsimony and maximum likelihood. The…

A phylogenetic analysis of the genus Paspalum (Poaceae) based on cpDNA and morphology

The phylogenetic structure of Paspalum was explored using sequence data of four non-coding cpDNA fragments from a wide array of species which were combined with morphological data for a subset of diploid taxa, confirming the general monophyly of P. inaequivalve.

Phylogenetic Relationships in the Genus Paspalum (Poaceae: Panicoideae: Paniceae): an Assessment of the Quadrifaria and Virgata Informal Groups

A new appraisal of the classification of the Quadrifaria and Virgata groups of Paspalum is presented based on the phylogenetic analyses of DNA data from the chloroplast: the rpl16 intron, and the region comprising the trnL and trnF genes.

Phylogeny of Linearia and Notata groups of Paspalum L. (Poaceae, Panicoideae, Paniceae) and related species

This work uses a phylogenetic approach to study informal groups of Paspalum, using DNA sequences from ITS of nuclear rRNA, from chloroplast intergenic spacer psbA-trnH andchloroplast trnL intron to perform the analyses.

enetic relationship among Paspalum species of the subgenus nachyris : Taxonomic and evolutionary implications

The results confirm previous studies suggesting a monophyletic origin for the subgenus Anachyris and are concordant with previous data regarding genomic homologies and phylogenetic analyses in the genus.

Phylogenetic analysis of the Briza Complex (Poaceae).

Genetic diversity of the complex Paspalum notatum Flügge (Paniceae: Panicoideae)

Assessment of genetic variability of a bahiagrass collection in South America adds new information regarding the genetic diversity in P. notatum, contributing toward the biological knowledge of this species, and providing with subsides for future plant breeding and conservation programs.

Morphology and anatomy of the diaspores and seedling of Paspalum (Poaceae, Poales).

The morphology of the diaspore and the post-seminal development of Paspalum dilatatum Poir.

Chromosome numbers and ploidy levels of Paspalum species from subtropical South America (Poaceae)

Somatic chromosome numbers of 131 accessions belonging to 55 Paspalum species from subtropical South America have been determined and six ploidy levels were found among species with tetraploidy as the most frequent condition.

Las especies del género Axonopus (Poaceae: Panicoideae: Paspaleae) de Colombia

Axonopus is an American genus with about 71 species, mainly distributed in northern South America, with some species apparently introduced to the Old World, and a total of 19 species of this genus are currently known in Colombia, of which three are endemic.

A Morphology-based Cladistic Analysis of Paspalum sect. Pectinata (Poaceae)

A cladistic analysis using parsimony was carried out, including all six species of Paspalum sect.

Phylogeny and subfamilial classification of the grasses (Poaceae)

A large collaborative effort has yiel(led a comprehensive study of the phylogeny and a new suhfanilial classification of the grass family (Poaceae/Graminieae) and 1 new subfamily (Danthonioideae) is proposed.

Phylogenetic Relationships of the Decumbentes Group of Paspalum, Thrasya, and Thrasyopsis (Poaceae: Panicoideae: Paniceae)

Paspalum (Poaceae: Panicoideae: Paniceae) includes 330 species distributed mainly in tropical and subtropical regions of America, and phylogenetic relationships among the informal group Decumbentes of Paspalu, plus subgenera and other informal groups, and the genera Thrasya and Thrasyopsis were estimated.

ContribuciÓn a la filogenia del género Paspalum (Poaceae: Panicoideae: Paniceae)

The present phylogenetic analysis confirms that Paspalum is a paraphyletic group and shows close relationships with Axonopus and Thrasya in Paniceae.

A molecular phylogeny of Panicum (Poaceae: Paniceae): tests of monophyly and phylogenetic placement within the Panicoideae.

The purpose of this research, based on molecular data of the chloroplast ndhF gene, is to test the monophyly of Panicum, to evaluate infrageneric classifications, and to propose a robust phylogenetic hypothesis.

Taxonomia de Paspalum L., grupo Linearia (Gramineae - Paniceae) do Brasil

A systematic treatment of the Brazilian species of Paspalum tradicionally included in the informal group Linearia is provided, including the critical analysis of each species and of their synonymy,

A molecular phylogeny of the grass subfamily Panicoideae (Poaceae) shows multiple origins of C4 photosynthesis.

Based on this sample of species, it is inferred that C(4) photosynthesis has evolved independently several times, although a single origin with multiple reversals and several reacquisitions is only slightly less parsimonious.

Molecular systematics, GISH and the origin of hybrid taxa in Nicotiana (Solanaceae).

Relying solely upon ITS nrDNA analysis to reveal phylogenetic patterns in a complex genus such as Nicotiana is insufficient, and it is clear that conventional analysis of single data sets, such as ITS, is likely to be misleading in at least some respects about evolutionary history.

Systematic revision and phylogeny of Paspalum subgenus Ceresia (Poaceae: Panicoideae: Paniceae)

Twenty-five species are treated in this work, in which exomorphological characters are analyzed cladistically. Species of Paspalum subg. Ceresia are characterized by their rigid, filiform to

Chromosome counts in brazilian species of Paspalum L. (Gramineae)

Chromosome numbers are reported from 107 accessions of 33 species, representative of 13 of the informal taxonomic groups, in which the genus is traditionally divided, and the Southern region is very well represented, with 65 accessions.
