This document aims at presenting both theoretical and practical aspects of the grating_2D Onelab model (available at this http URL). This model applies to so-called mono-dimensional grating, i.e. structures having one direction of invariance. Various geometries and materials can be handled or easily added. The two classical polarization cases, denoted here E// and H//, are addressed. The output consists in a full energy balance of the problem computed from the field maps. This model is based on…

Reformulation of the lamellar grating problem through the concept of adaptive spatial resolution

The lamellar grating problem is reformulated through the concept of adaptive spatial resolution. We introduce a new coordinate system such that spatial resolution is increased around the

Photonic Crystals: Molding the Flow of Light

Since it was first published in 1995, Photonic Crystals has remained the definitive text for both undergraduates and researchers on photonic band-gap materials and their use in controlling the

Angular tolerant resonant grating filters under oblique incidence.

TLDR
This work shows how to increase the angular tolerance up to the divergence of standard beams without modifying the spectral bandwidth under oblique angle of incidence, using a multimode planar waveguide and a bi-atom grating.

A perfectly matched layer for the absorption of electromagnetic waves

TLDR
Numerical experiments and numerical comparisons show that the PML technique works better than the others in all cases; using it allows to obtain a higher accuracy in some problems and a release of computational requirements in some others.

Optical Constants of the Noble Metals

The optical constants $n$ and $k$ were obtained for the noble metals (copper, silver, and gold) from reflection and transmission measurements on vacuum-evaporated thin films at room temperature, in

A general environment for the treatment of discrete problems and its application to the finite element method

TLDR
Finite element method has great ability to welcome in an evolutive way a wide range of physical models and numerical methods, with any coupling of them, and is therefore adapted to various activities, such as research, collaboration, education, training and industrial studies.
