Automatic registration of range images is a fundamental problem in 3D modeling of free-from objects. Various feature matching algorithms have been proposed for this purpose. However, these algorithms suffer from various limitations mainly related to their applicability, efficiency, robustness to resolution, and the discriminating capability of the used feature representation.
