Sagnac Effect: End of the Mystery
Transformations of space and time depending on a synchronization parameter, e 1, indicate the existence of a privileged inertial system S 0. The Lorentz transformations are obtained for a particularExpand
The Sagnac effect in general relativity
The Sagnac effect is a phase shift observed between two beams of light traversing in opposite directions the same closed path around a rotating object. A description of this experiment is obtainedExpand
Finsler geodesics in the presence of a convex function
In this paper, we obtain a result about the existence of only a finite number of geodesics between two fixed non-conjugate points in a Finsler manifold endowed with a convex function. We apply it toExpand
Notes on the Sagnac effect in general relativity
The Sagnac effect can be described as the difference in travel time between two photons traveling along the same path in opposite directions. In this paper we explore the consequences of thisExpand
On the energy functional on Finsler manifolds and applications to stationary spacetimes
In this paper we first study some global properties of the energy functional on a non-reversible Finsler manifold. In particular we present a fully detailed proof of the Palais–Smale condition underExpand
A Direct Kinematical Derivation of the Relativistic Sagnac Effect for Light or Matter Beams
The Sagnac time delay and the corresponding Sagnac phase shift, for relativistic matter and electromagnetic beams counter-propagating in a rotating interferometer, are deduced on the ground ofExpand
Wind Finslerian structures: from Zermelo's navigation to the causality of spacetimes
The notion of wind Finslerian structure is developed; this is a generalization of Finsler metrics where the indicatrices at the tangent spaces may not contain the zero vector. In the particular caseExpand
On the radar method in general-relativistic spacetimes.
If a clock, mathematically modeled by a parametrized timelike curve in a general-relativistic spacetime, is given, the radar method assigns a time and a distance to every event which is sufficientlyExpand
Cylindrical systems in general relativity
With the arrival of the era of gravitational wave astronomy, the strong gravitational field regime will be explored soon in various aspects. In this article, we provide a general review overExpand
$t$-periodic light rays in conformally stationary spacetimes via Finsler geometry
In this paper we prove several multiplicity results of $t$-periodic light rays in conformally stationary spacetimes using the Fermat metric and the extensions of the classical theorems ofExpand
