A Reanalysis of Relationships Among Calypsoinae (Orchidaceae: Epidendroideae): Floral and Vegetative Evolution and the Placement of Yoania
- Environmental ScienceSystematic Botany
- 2017
Biogeographic analysis suggests a New World origin for the Calypsoinae subtribe, with two major shifts to the Old World and one shift back to the New World.
Taxonomic status and phylogeny of Veratrum section Veratrum (Melanthiaceae) in Korea and Japan based on chloroplast and nuclear sequence data
- BiologyPlant Systematics and Evolution
- 2013
The taxonomic status of V. alpestre should be synomized with V. oxysepalum and a further study using fast evolving nuclear and chloroplast regions is required to resolve the phylogenetic relationships among species within Veratrum sect.
Reappraisal ofDiplolabellum coreanum (orchidaceae) as inferred from molecular data
- BiologyJournal of Plant Biology
- 2009
The taxonomic treatment of a monotypic genus,Diplolabellum, has been disputed by various authors. Maekawa (1935) described the genus on the basis ofOreorchis coreana IFinet. Because distribution of…
Reappraisal of Kitigorchis (Orchidaceae)
- Biology
- 2003
Investigation of herbarium specimens and descriptions revealed that Kitigorchis itoana is conspecific with Oreorchis indica, previously recorded from the western Himalaya to southwestern China, which represents another example of disjunct distribution between Japan, Taiwan and the Himalayan region within the Eastern Asiatic Kingdom.

Toward Defining the Course of Evolution: Minimum Change for a Specific Tree Topology
- Biology
- 1971
A method is presented that is asserted to provide all hypothetical ancestral character states that are consistent with describing the descent of the present-day character states in a minimum number of changes of state using a predetermined phylogenetic relationship among the taxa represented.
LOW LEVELS OF INTRASPECIFIC GENETIC VARIATION AT A RAPIDLY EVOLVING CHLOROPLAST DNA LOCUS IN NORTH AMERICAN DUCKWEEDS (LEMNACEAE)
- Biology, Environmental Science
- 1996
Factors such as historical range expansions and contractions, founding effects, fluctuations in local population size, and natural selection may play a role in reducing cpDNA sequence variability in these species.
Molecular phylogenetics of Diseae (Orchidaceae): a contribution from nuclear ribosomal ITS sequences.
- BiologyAmerican journal of botany
- 1999
The first molecular phylogeny of tribe Diseae (Orchidoideae: Orchidaceae) is presented, with Morphological characters fully congruent with the well-supported groups identified in the ITS phylogeny.
CONFIDENCE LIMITS ON PHYLOGENIES: AN APPROACH USING THE BOOTSTRAP
- EconomicsEvolution; international journal of organic evolution
- 1985
The recently‐developed statistical method known as the “bootstrap” can be used to place confidence intervals on phylogenies and shows significant evidence for a group if it is defined by three or more characters.
The neighbor-joining method: a new method for reconstructing phylogenetic trees.
- BiologyMolecular biology and evolution
- 1987
The neighbor-joining method and Sattath and Tversky's method are shown to be generally better than the other methods for reconstructing phylogenetic trees from evolutionary distance data.
