A New Family of Asymmetric Distributions for Modeling Light-Tailed and Right-Skewed Data
@article{Cadena2017ANF, title={A New Family of Asymmetric Distributions for Modeling Light-Tailed and Right-Skewed Data}, author={Meitner Cadena}, journal={arXiv: Statistics Theory}, year={2017} }
A new three-parameter cumulative distribution function defined on $(\alpha,\infty)$, for some $\alpha\geq0$, with asymmetric probability density function and showing exponential decays at its both tails, is introduced. The new distribution is near to familiar distributions like the gamma and log-normal distributions, but this new one shows own elements and thus does not generalize neither of these distributions. Hence, the new distribution constitutes a new alternative to fit values showing…

A new method for adding a parameter to a family of distributions with application to the exponential and Weibull families

SUMMARY A new way of introducing a parameter to expand a family of distributions is introduced and applied to yield a new two-parameter extension of the exponential distribution which may serve as a…
Survival and lifetime data analysis with a flexible class of distributions
- Mathematics
- 2015
A general class of continuous univariate distributions with positive support obtained by transforming the class of two-piece distributions is introduced, which is very flexible, easy to implement, and contains members that can capture different tail behaviours and shapes, producing also a variety of hazard functions.
WEIBULL-LOMAX DISTRIBUTION: PROPERTIES AND APPLICATIONS

A new model called the Weibull-Lomax distribution is introduced which extends the LomAX distribution and has increasing and decreasing shapes for the hazard rate function and outperforms the McDonald- lomax, Kumaraswamy-Lamax, gamma-Lmax, beta-LMax, exponentiated Lmax and Lomax models.

A generalized log-normal distribution and its goodness of fit to censored data
- MathematicsComput. Stat.
- 2012
A generalized version of log-normal distribution is proposed and its goodness-of-fit for a randomly censored data set representing the remission times of bladder cancer patients has been demonstrated and compared with other lifetime models considered in the literature.
