Abstract A new 5(6→7)abeo-sterol with rarely reported [6–5-6–5]-fused rings, 3β,5β,6-trihydroxyl-B-norsitostane (1), along with 10 known compounds were isolated from the twigs of Podocarpus fleuryi. Their structures were elucidated by means of extensive spectroscopic analysis. Compound 1 was assessed for their cytotoxicity against five human tumour cell lines (HL-60, SMMC-7721, A-549, MCF-7 and SW-480), and the result showed that it had no activity.

Stable isotope feeding studies reveal a steroid 5(6→7)abeo ring contraction biogenesis for the antibiotic solanioic acid produced by cultures of the fungus Rhizoctonia solani
TLDR
The study revealed that 9-epi-solanioic acid (4), which spontaneously converts to solanioic Acid, is also produced by the cultures and it may be the actual natural product. Expand
Access to 5(6→7)abeo-Steroids through Benzilic Acid Rearrangement of i-Steroids
Benzilic acid rearrangement of i -steroid ketones and their subsequent opening gives access to 5(6→7) abeo -steroids. The functional group tolerance is demonstrated by several examples, includingExpand
Evaluation of Diuretic Activity and Phytochemical Contents of Aqueous Extract of the Shoot Apex of Podocarpus falcactus
TLDR
The aqueous extract exhibited significant diuretic activity and confirmed the folkloric use of Podocarpus falcactus, which could be used as a starting point for further studies. Expand
