Significance of Findings A significant and unusual histopathology feature of the infection in one of the guinea fowl was the presence of bone marrow involvement. It is of interest that the occurrence of similar lesions (necrosis and edema associated with toxoplasma organisms) has been reported for bone marrow biopsies from human patients manifesting with acquired immunodeficiency disease.
