Abstract A phenoraenological model has been developed to describe the accumulation of C, Fe, and Ti in catalysts used in a pilot-plant scale two-stage coal liquefaction operation. Two species for each foulant have been identified on the basis of (a) spatial accumulation profiles and (b) time rate of deposition.
