The Ring The Orkney Islands are rich in archaeological sites of many kinds and periods, but perhaps the most impressive is the Ring of Brogar (see Figure 2). It stands in a commanding position on the peninsula that separates Loch of Harray from Loch of Stenness on the Mainland of Orkney, so that the stones forming the circle can be seen from far and near.
